Another iPhone Cake

After all this haze surrounding iPhone 5, I was bound to have another iPhone cake order.

This was - surprisingly - one the fastest cakes I've done. Took me 2 hours!

The inside is chocolate fudge and the outside - yes you guessed it - marshmallow fondant.

What do you think??

Oh and check out my last iPhone app cake:

Couch Cake

Comfort Food..in every possible way.

After all those posts on my wall of that pink sofa cake, I finally got around to doing this cake...

Chocolate Fudge Sofa, can it get any more tempting???

Ah, what I wouldn't do for a nap on that sofa right now :P

Baby Shower..Cakes & Cupcakes

Baby Showers..they have to be as cute as can be. The pregnant ladies, the emotions, the tears and awwwwww's all around. but the best for me always is: CAKE! I just love the cuteness, the cakes are always so pretty, colorful and childish (in a good way :P )

So when the opportunity came where I had to do one, I was ecstatic! I got out all my colors and started coloring all the marshmallow fondant I had.

The first step was to mold the baby and let it dry overnight. I admit the baby turned out a bit too cartoon-ish but it all came together at the end with the blanket and the colors.

I propped the baby on a light green fondant covered chocolate cake and propped a blanket on top. Looks cute, no?

The cupcakes are chocolate, vanilla and marbled flavored. I was trying out my new cupcake pan. I got the biggest one I found since I had many to do. Then I got creative and started cutting out shapes and piping on the cupcakes.

Sushi Roll Cake

It's been done! My first sushi cake. well..sushi roll cake. And surprisingly it was pretty easy! and really fun to do. The pieces all fit together perfectly.

 Let's talk cake.

The cake itself is a vanilla-lemon cake. In other words, fluffy vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and white vanilla frosting.

and as usual: Marshmallow Fondant!!

I made a dark (black-ish) fondant strip and wrapped it around the cake and sprinkled white sprinkles on top for the "rice".

I dug through many leftover fondant pieces from previous cakes...turns out I have many many colors left (makes life muuuuuch easier) and added all the colors to the sushi roll.

Finally, a sushi cake cannot exist without some chopsticks, so I stacked 2 on top.

The wasabi

The ginger

I just love the pink of the ginger...don't you think it looks good??

Yummy...I think I'll be going out for sushi tonight...

Twitter, Instagram and Cake

This week has been crazy! I still do not believe it's Sunday and it seems like its been ages since I've blogged. But I'm back..with a very special cake that I reaallllyy enjoyed doing.

I'm loving those cakes that need small details as opposed to big themed designs. So this was the perfect cake for me to end the week with.

(And I just had to have  a social media cake on my blog :P )

This cake has two social media icons (as you can see):

Instagram

and Twitter

They were pretty straight forward to do. I just baked the cake and made all my fondant beforehand and left the fun part till the end.

I rolled up my sleeves, turned on some music and got to work.

I started with the cake board itself. I'm thinking of starting to always cover those dull golden cake boards. Makes the cakes look better. This cake had a background of the Armenian Flag. So red, blue, yellow. Pretty easy.

Then I covered the cake with white fondant and started with the logos.

I printed out cutouts of both logos in front of me and started recreating.

I really liked the results!

What do you think?

Ribbon Engagement Cake

Yes! I've finally ventured into Tiered Cakes. They've always been intimidating to me but once someone asked me for an engagement cake, how could I have said no? So, I researched and researched and RESEARCHED and finally came up with a system for tiered cakes that is reliable, efficient and wouldn't affect the final look.

The cake design was simple enough:

2 Tiered cake with a golden color scheme. The first layer was a polka dot creme colored cake

and the second layer was an ivory gift box with a HUGE golden ribbon.

Making the diamond pattern on the 2nd tier

The final result:

I've realized that ribbons really add dimension to the cake and makes it pop! Don't you think so?

The cake was a butter devil's food chocolate cake moistened with a sugar syrup to keep it moist and fresh. The filling was Almond Crunch Swiss Meringue Chocolate Buttercream (long name for such a delicious filling).

This is me frosting the cake! I just love this part =)

A piece at the party!

Almonds with caramel, these went into the buttercream! =D

The mess after the cake =P
